This rare, antique memento mori skull ring is crafted from solid 9ct gold. This incredible skull features two great size grass-green emerald eyes and a moving jaw, which makes quite the statement! It is fully hallmarked on its band for 9ct Gold, Chester and the year, 1919, making it over 104 years old, and antique.

Memento Mori jewellery, which translates from Latin as “Remember you must die'" has been celebrated since the 17th century, and was worn in the Victorian era as a reminder of the inevitability of death and the need to live life to the fullest.

Currently a UK size Q which is a US size 8 1/4, the face of this ring measures 12mm x 7mm , so has great finger coverage. It is in excellent antique condition over all - the gems are well set and sturdy and the jaw moves well on its hinge. The gold has a lovely patina which only age can produce, and it weighs a healthy 4.8g of solid rosy gold.
